Meet the trainer
Hi Im Dominique,
My journey began like many young girls I dreamed of becoming a veterinarian, fueled by my love for animals. However, after struggling with chemistry in college, I realized vet school wasn’t for me. Fortunately, my school offered an agricultural program, allowing me to work with various animals. During one of my classes, I met a girl with a service dog who helped her with her seizures. This opened my eyes to new possibilities regarding working with animals.
Inspired by this experience, I enrolled in my school’s canine training program and studied service dogs. After four years I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in animal science with a concentration in canine and secured an internship with Little Angels Service Dogs in California. I worked at Little Angels for three years and gained valuable hands-on experience with dogs of all ages and made a meaningful difference in people's lives.
After three fulfilling years in San Diego, I felt a pullback to my family and friends in NYC. Although I loved training service dogs, I wanted to expand my knowledge of canine behavior. After moving back home I found a position at a board and train facility on Long Island, where I worked with dogs exhibiting various behavioral issues, from basic obedience to fear reactivity and aggression.
Over time, I discovered a passion for working with reactive dogs using balanced training techniques, experiencing profound satisfaction in helping them overcome their challenges. This epiphany guided me to explore new training techniques to help reactive dogs and their humans.
In my opinion dog training is a never-ending learning opportunity so I am consistently growing and learning something new with each dog I have had the pleasure of working with.
